Engaged! Carla and Craig
Posted on June 30, 2009
A little over a week ago I met up with Carla and Craig on a gorgeous night in Canton. We met at the McKinley Monument but since it was a bit busy with kids and people we decided to head over to the Canton Garden Center which was peaceful and virtually deserted. We played in the Children’s Garden for a bit and then went over to my favorite bridge and got some yummy light shots before heading around in the park to finish out the session. They are SUCH a fun couple – easy to shoot and their love is easy to capture on film. Made my job easy! I had such a fun night with them and I hope they enjoyed their shoot as well. They are getting married in August so look for them to return to the blog then!
Thanks guys for such a fun night! See you soon!

I knew that I was going to have a fun time when they were laughing within minutes of the first shot!

Carla bustin’ out the Single Ladies dance on the musical trampoline.

My favorite bridge!

This is one of my favorite shots from the shoot!

Another favorite! They are adorable!

High five!

I adore this ring shot!!!! One of my favs ever!
Stay tuned for blogs from the New Kids On the Block concert (you know I went!), from Jenna & Doug’s Wedding and from Maureen & Mark’s Rehearsal & Wedding!!!
Married: Rachel and Jeff 06.13.09

I am so far behind on my blogging – again I apologize! However I do want any future clients to know that I edit first, post proofs and THEN blog a wedding. So even though my blogging may be behind, I am never this far behind on my work!
Rachel is a self-confessed blog follower, along with her Mom, her bridal party and a lot of random people I met throughout the night. I can’t even begin to tell you how fun it was to have a mini-fan club the night of this wedding. When my assistant Nicole and I arrived at Rachel’s house to get some shots before the wedding, I was greeted with a bag of Munchos from Rachel’s Mom!! She had read my Mobile Monday blog the week prior about how I love Munchos on car trips and decided that Kirtland was a car trip for me! I say this often, but I really do meet some wonderful people with my job and have the BEST clients!
Rachel and Jeff got married in a STUNNING outdoor wedding in the outdoor location behind Old South Church in Kirtland, Ohio. The area where they got married was so gorgeous, it was cut into the hill so that the guests overlooked the valley and part of Chapin National Forest. The reception was held at the Radisson in Eastlake and I have to say I was really floored with how gorgeous of a location it was. I also have to shot out some mad props to the Wedding Coordinator Kirsten from the Radisson. She was so on top of everything and even saved the night when there was a wardrobe malfunction.
Rachel and Jeff were such an easy couple to shoot. Their love is tender and caring – just like the two of them. Thanks to you both for having me along for your amazing wedding!!!

Rachel’s STUNNING makeup. There is a funny backstory to this. Rachel used to get her makeup done by Jason when he worked for MAC and when it came time for her to decide who she wanted to do her makeup for her wedding, she thought of the awesome Jason and how she wished she could find him. She then checked my blog not long after and Jason’s info was there as he was the makeup artist for Meghan! Small world!

Rachel was a stunning bride!

One of my favorite shots of Rachel and Jeff. I was really excited when I saw the white blooms… although I’m sure they were wondering what I was doing

Blogged at Offbeat Bride!

How awesome is this? Kate’s AMAZING bouquet was blogged at Offbeat Bride! I loved her bouquet so I’m super excited that it got some attention because it was amazing. I also adore Offbeat Bride since I was one (well as long as you call having your first dance in the pool “offbeat” which I do).
SUPER excited! *jumps up and down*
Now… I have a New Kids concert to catch! See ya’ll later!

Engaged: Darlene and Carl

Almost two weeks ago (yes, I am behind on blogging!) I met up with Darlene and Carl at the always stunning and beautiful Stan Hywet in Akron, Ohio. The day was absolutely perfect as far as weather went and we were able to enjoy all that Stan Hywet had to offer! Gorgeous views, flowers and of course a fun and cute couple to show it all off well! They are so sweet together and tender. Made my heart melt a bit
You’ll be seeing them again in September! Thanks for the lovely afternoon you two!!!

We had to search for a peony that was close to the colors they’ve chosen for their wedding but we found one!

I had to take some shots in the gazebo since Darlene and Carl will be getting married in the gazebo on Lake Anna!

I LOVE reflections in old glass!!

Married: Jillian and Kevin 06.06.09

Jillian and Kevin were married this past Saturday in one of those weddings that you swear walked RIGHT off of a magazine spread! The outfits, the flowers, the lighting, the decorations and all the details made for one of the most stunning weddings I have ever seen! We started the day out at the salon and stayed until almost the last song and every moment was breathtaking and amazing! I also was so excited to be able to have two FULL hours with the bridal party to go to various locations in Downtown Cleveland to make some amazing pictures. I could not have asked for a better day – or wedding – to shoot! Jillian and Kevin have that easy love that is tender yet fun at the same time and SUCH a blast to shoot! I love when my grooms aren’t camera shy!
Thanks to both Jillian and Kevin for choosing me to capture your special day for you! Also extreme thanks to Lisa Christine Photography for being my amazing second shooter for the day!

Jillian’s Mom stopped by the salon to wish her daughter luck!

Heidzillas stopped by to bring breakfast and mimosas!

Even though she was a bit nervous, Jillian managed to laugh quite a lot!

My second shooter Lisa headed over to where the guys were getting ready and was pretty shocked to see this when she got into the room! Like any good photographer, she took a picture and dropped her jaw later! I heard about this quite a few times throughout the day – from the groom, the groomsman that did this and from Lisa. The picture made me laugh a lot when editing!

Jillian’s friend lent her the something borrowed, something old and something blue in one ring – her friends great-great grandmother’s blue diamond ring. Isn’t it STUNNING? Of course I had to take a detail shot of it!

I love the makeup part of the day… doesn’t she look amazing??

Jillian’s amazing gown!

Remember when I mentioned that I love getting this shot at the rehearsal? I was lucky to get it again the day of the wedding!

Lisa got this fun shot of them about to leave the church!

The official leaving – after the family formals at the altar.

This place wasn’t in our ‘route’ but the limo driver swore by this location for its views – I have to agree the the skyline is gorgeous from here!

A quick stop at Whisky Island/Wendy Park with the bridal party.

I think my favorite shot of the day… might have something to do with the shoes!

One of the few shots that the bride requested be done of her and the groom. She had a picture she sent and I tried to recreate it for her… I think it worked?

After I had some groomsman drop a groom I’ve stopped even MENTIONING this pose, however these guys were sturdy looking and were begging to do it… and this is the result. I was cracking up!

They did this unprompted!

While I was off doing shots with the bridal party, Lisa was back at Springvale Ballroom getting some amazing shots of the ballroom before the guests arrived.

A kiss after the toasts.

The first dance.

One of my favorite bouquet toss pictures ever

The guys were almost as feisty as the girls!

I loved that Jillian wasn’t afraid to put on her dancing shoes and really party after all the formalities were over with. You have to give mad props to a gal who can dance in heels (no flip flops for this bride!), in a gown and still have these moves!!! She’s closer to the floor than anyone else out there!!! *high fives*
Thanks again for such a wonderful day and for having me along!!!!!
Rehearsal: Jillian and Kevin
Posted on June 10, 2009
Jillian, Kevin and I kept trying to meet up for an engagement shoot but timing never worked out. In the end, Jillian decided to have me shoot their rehearsal. Rehearsals are fun because it gives me a chance to see what will happen the next day and to also get more relaxed shots of everyone involved. The next day everyone is already used to me so it’s more like shooting friends than clients. Their rehearsal started late because the previous rehearsal ran late so we took some casual portraits outside before going inside. The rehearsal was good and informative and then we headed over to the 100th Bomb Group for a delicious dinner hosted by Kevin’s family.

I have to admit, I love when guys pose as soon as they see the camera – makes my job easy!

I always try to get a shot of the bride holding her bouquet the day of the wedding and this shot – even if it’s not THE bouquet – I still love because it shows off Jillian’s gorgeous bracelet from her Mom as a wedding gift!

I love getting this shot if at all possible…

The new Mr & Mrs!! Well… in a day!

Jillian and her brother pose during dinner.

Jillian and Kevin make a toast to everyone at the rehearsal thanking them for coming.

Jillian shows off the Bride hoodie her bridesmaid made for her knowing that Jillian really wanted for the next day. It was ADORABLE!
Tomorrow… The amazingly awesome pink wedding!
Mobile Monday: Crazy Busy Week Edition
Posted on June 8, 2009
Whew!! What a week last week was!!! I had SUCH a busy week! Engagement Shoot Monday. Corporate Shoot in Columbus Tuesday. Editing all day Wednesday. My nephew’s graduation on Thursday. Rehearsal and dinner Friday. Wedding (12 hour) on Saturday. Wound out the week with an Engagement Session on Sunday. WHEW! Just typing all that makes me a bit tired! So I bring you my busy week of Mobile Monday pics!

Related Links and Facts
Smack Talk – Seriously one of the silliest but funnest apps we’ve found. Check out this Flickr Video for some amusing clips and why it’s entertaining (and why I need to download it too so ours can smack talk each other). Currently just my husband has it but after watching that video I realize we’re missing out by only having one! The app is .99 cents.
Munchos – I guess that these aren’t readily available everywhere in the US. I am in love with these suckers but for whatever reason only usually get them for road trips. Something about road trips is Munchos to me. I also have a serious salt problem and that could be why I have this addiction, lol.
The Selected Journals of L. M. Montgomery – If you hadn’t guessed from my post from PEI, I love Anne of Green Gables (book and miniseries). I’ve read almost all of LMM’s works and have heard rave reviews about her journals. Due to time constraints (and that pesky weight limit on baggage) I didn’t purchase these when I was in PEI in 2006 and I regretted that decision when I decided to start reading these journals. The first few are easy to find but the final two works are impossible. I finally was able to get both 4 and 5 from a bookseller in PEI and have finally started reading them. I still can’t get over how difficult Maud’s life was and how many obstacles she overcame. I HIGHLY recommend this series of journals to any fans of her work. She really comes alive in these books.
Engaged! Carolyn and Matt
Posted on June 8, 2009
Whew! It is finally the end of a crazy busy week for me and I’ve had time to breathe and blog some images from an engagement session last Monday! I am starting to get twitchy about being backlogged in my blogging! Hopefully this week I can catch up on that as I have no shoots until Saturday’s wedding.
Carolyn and Matt had one of the most gorgeous days in May picked out for their engagement session but Matt had a Corey Moment and damaged his nose and we had to reschedule unless we wanted it to appear that Carolyn really did have to fight him to get him to do the engagement shoot! We originally were shooting for Tuesday but were going to keep an eye on the weather and see what worked best during the week. Monday originally looked gloomy and was raining but it cleared up and the day was perfect!
Just in case of a lingering shower that was called for, we decided to skip going to McKinley Monument and Park and I opted to pick them up and we drove around North Canton to some areas that I’ve wanted to shoot in my hometown for a while! I think it all worked out perfectly! We started out near my house where I took Melissa last fall for some shots by the railroad tracks and then to the pond next to the tracks. We then headed over to the Hoover Historical Center. After that and a quick wardrobe change we went to downtown North Canton and finished up with some yummy ice cream at Handel’s!
Keep in mind that the entire shoot Carolyn and Matt kept insisting they were not photogenic and would end up looking like dorks in the images. They kept apologizing profusely! I think the end result proves that they were not dorky whatsoever
Every couple insists that they can’t take pics, they stink at posing and so forth so it’s really fun for me to be able to show them before the wedding that they can look amazing!! The day of the wedding then they have full trust in me which is great!
Thanks to both Carolyn and Matt for a great evening, amazing pictures and a yummy root beer float!

I don’t know why but I have always wanted to do an engagement shoot here. Luckily they were willing to go along with any of my ideas!

I think it’s because this area has not only some awesome tracks (I love the lines and curves of the tracks here!) but because there is also a pond and park like area to play with right there as well.

Oh and the light here is amazing!!

Such a wonderfully fun couple! I also love it when I can see the shoes in a shot

I tend to guide my couples more than pose and let things come naturally to them. I told them to walk down the tracks and they did this on their own. LOVE it!

This image is a bit more guided but the look of love – that’s purely them!

We left the tracks and went to the Hoover Historical Center and made this image which is by far my favorite of the day.

This is taken in front of the old Willis Pontiac Store in North Canton. I’m still a bit sad to see it empty!

Taking a moment to snuggle is always a great photo op! If you look, you can see the old Hoover Plant in the background.

We finished out the session at Handel’s and got some delicious ice cream with a side of sun flare!
Married: Emily and James 05.30.09
Posted on June 5, 2009
Emily and James got married on one of the most beautiful Saturdays Ohio has seen this season. Perfect temperatures and a gorgeous sky with no rain! It couldn’t have been any better! They were married in Millersburg and had their reception in Sugarcreek – what a great drive it was down there and back! I adore driving through Amish Country anytime I get! I last saw them both in August at their engagement session and they haven’t been back too much since then since they live in Chicago.
Emily and James have that quiet adoring love that is precious to see. I already can picture them in my mind 50 years down the road on their front porch holding hands while rocking and watching the day go by. They are a perfect match and made the day easy for me! Even during the ‘one thing that goes wrong’ at every wedding, they both maintained their cool and calmed each other down. It was a joy to be with them!
Thanks to you both for allowing me to be a part of your day!

I had to get a shot of Emily & James with the cows in the background, I just HAD to!

By far my favorite shot of the day!

The groomsman were so nervous they would mess up when escorting that they drew a map so they knew where to put people, I LOVE it!

I had to take this shot as I was leaving as it was an odd blue and the sky was really neat looking, I really like how it turned out!
