Engagement | Maureen + Jeremy | Willoughby, OH

• This was my first weekend off of weddings in a long time but I managed to keep myself busy with some engagement and portrait shoots.  As soon as the leaves turn it seems that everyone wants their pictures done before the snow rolls in.  In Ohio, you never know how long it will be so you take the good days when you have them and run with it!  Last year it didn’t snow until after Christmas, this year we’ve already seen a few nasty snowy days and are currently under a Winter Storm Warning!

• Maureen and Jeremy are so cute together, not a lot of posing was necessary because they just are adorable.  Makes my job easier!!!

• It’s funny how for the past 2  + years of shooting in NE Ohio I’ve SO wanted to shoot at Squires Castle but have never had the chance and in 2010 I ended up going there quite a bit!

• Note to future brides and grooms that while this area is GORGEOUS, there is a LOT of people here at all times so if having pristine backgrounds is important to you, this may not be the place to go.  This particular day there was a wedding going on, 5 different photo shoots and a ton of people just enjoying the nice weather and sunshine.  It wasn’t easy to get pictures without all the chaos in the frame!

• I love a lot of colors for portrait/engagement sessions but I really think that jewel tones are the best especially during the fall.  GORGEOUS color choice here Maureen!!!

• This whole session shows why I love to schedule engagement sessions for the ‘magic hour’ of the time just before sunset, the light it just so flattering!  The day of the wedding we are often at the mercy of the schedules of the day so we can’t always play during the optimal time for portraits so it makes me super happy when we’re able to do the engagement session with the pretty pretty light!

We started out in a gorgeous field of weeds!  Needless to say, there was quite a few photographers making faces at me asking me if I knew what I was doing and shaking their heads.  I think I knew what I was doing…

Yep, definitely knew what I was doing.  The light here was fantastic!

Yep, yep.  I knew what I was going for… and if you don’t agree please don’t tell me because I’m in love with this whole series of images!

I’m glad that Maureen and Jeremy trusted me and didn’t write me off as a nutter!

Not only was the light amazing here, but another key factor was that no one else was in this fabulous field of weeds!  Just us.

Random fact: these orange flowers are jewelweed aka “Touch Me Nots.”  They are my favorite “weed” (they are a variety of impatiens) and I spent much of my childhood following my Dad in the woods just hoping to find one of these suckers ready to ‘pop’.

Favorite from the day 🙂

Hello pretty lady!

The ‘Mom’ shot!  😉

They are so darned cute aren’t they??

That is one serious dip!  I can’t wait to see this the day of their wedding!

This gives you a little sliver of how crazy the place REALLY was!  Here you can see a senior photo shoot taking place (left), a wedding shoot taking place (center), a family playing and taking pictures (center), another senior shoot (right) and a random chair from one of the senior shoots.  Also note right after this shoot the lady spinning the boy would fall head over heels and roll down the hill.  No one was hurt but it was funny all the craziness that was going on!

Isn’t this tree’s colors FANTASTIC?!?

Yep, it’s back again!

It was hard to choose my favorite ring shot but I think this one wins!

Look for this fab couple to be back here in August!

    Squire’s Castle is a CRAAAAAZY busy place! I have a shoot there this Sunday – a snowy one I’m thinking….. 🙂

But it really is a gorgeous place to get photos if you are in the right place – as you so clearly were!

LOVE these photos and you are right, she wore Perfect colors for the shoot!ReplyCancel

I actually love the one with the craziness in the background because it makes them as a couple “pop” out of the crazy world and look serene and relaxed!!!! 🙂ReplyCancel
