Catherine’s Baby Shower

My awesome and amazing sister in law, Catherine and her hubby Dallas are soon to be the proud parents of a new bundle of joy! I am SO excited because not only will it give me a new victim of the lens, they are also going to be AMAZING parents. They are one of the funnest couples I know of and they are just GOOD people. I am just so lucky to be in their family! Their baby is due at the beginning of May but since Catherine lives in Columbus and wants to stick close to home in the weeks leading up to the birth, we had her shower at the beginning of March. WE meaning my sisters in law and I – I have THREE of them (including Catherine) and one brother in law – I married into a much larger family than my family of one!

Catherine and Dallas chose to not find out the sex of the baby until the birth (which is awesome in one respect but makes it frustrating for the shopper in me!). They decided to go for a gender neutral palette and themed the baby’s room around a jungle theme. I have yet to see it in person but I hear that it is adorable! If you know Catherine and Dallas, they have just a slight obsession with monkeys and OSU so it was not hard to be surprised when they chose a bedroom theme that just happened to have the cutest darn monkeys I’ve ever seen in the print of the bed, bumpers etc.

The shower gave me an excuse to get cake so I went to my favorite local bakery, West Side Bakery, whom hooked me up with an amazing cake with a jungle theme, pastry tray and sandwiches for the occasion. To round out my contribution to the shower, I dusted off my bridal DIY hat and I made Baby Bunches and Cupcake Bites (since they are ‘baby’ cupcakes… ha ha). Everything ended up looking great!

The awesome cake from West Side Bakery was chocolate with sweet buttercream icing and was decorated to match her theme.
