This summer was one of the most humid that I recall in a long time – the humid days seemed to have started in May and not end until almost October. However despite many days of being hot – I will always remember Freda and Jason’s day because it was definitely the hottest day I’ve ever photographed a wedding. The heat index was well over 100º and it was such a scorcher. All day I kept looking at the pool in their yard wanting to dive in – by the end of the day a few of the kiddos did!

However, despite it being a hot day, it was still such a great day. Everyone was so lovely to work with and kind. The ceremony was perfection and so sweet. It was such an easy going and wonderful day – literally the only thing “wrong” that day was the heat! Everything else was perfection! I also loved how much her entire family was a part of their day – it was awesome to see how everyone was pitching in to make the day perfect.

Every Bride dreams of her day being special and amazing. I wanted a photographer that would capture our true selves not that posed stuff. I watched my Best Friend get married and all the ways her photographer made her pose and I knew that is not what I wanted! I felt the most important thing in the wedding was my photographer! I searched and searched for the “perfect” photographer and I found Corey Ann’s website. I ran to my co-worker and told her I found my photographer, she has the most amazing pictures on her site and you have to see them! We both agreed she was amazing. I was so worried she would already be booked, but it was my lucky day; she wasn’t! I called her immediately to save her for the date! I couldn’t afford to lose her for my wedding day.

When I called her she was so friendly and nice. She was making one of her favorite meals a grilled cheese sandwich. I had to laugh!! I couldn’t wait for her to do our engagement pictures. She is the one that suggested the Alliance Castle and I am so glad she did! Our pictures were amazing and we had so much fun with her! We laughed and laughed and at the end it turned out she knew my fiancé. What a small world. I had so much fun with our engagement pictures that I couldn’t wait for the wedding. She had our pictures to us the very next day! I couldn’t believe how fast we had our pictures.

As for the “BIG DAY” I was so worried. I didn’t know when to start getting ready. Our wedding day had to be the hottest day of the year (Heat index of over 100 in September).

However, Corey Ann went above and beyond the duties one would assume as a photographer. She told me when the time was right to get dressed. She made sure everyone knew what to do, how to do it and when to do it. She even helped tie my corset. Friends and family said she was everywhere getting pictures of everyone and everything, making my wedding day pictures so unique and “us”. When we drove down to take pictures by the water she had ice cold water, a cold towel and a good smelling combination of water and cucumber melon in a bottle that she sprayed on me to cool me off. It was so refreshing. I felt like a princess! She thought of everything and I never expected that from a photographer!

She had our wedding pictures to us in just a few days! She is amazing and I absolutely love her!!

For “Brides Talk”, picking my favorite pictures was the hardest part because they are all my favorite. Here are a few that I loved!!

It’s back for yet another year! The annual album giveaway! If you are a 2011 client check your email for details. If you didn’t get an email let me know.

Oh how much I adored Maureen & Jeremy! They were so, so awesome to work with! Their engagement session still remains one of my favorites and their wedding day was just as awesome. They went along with anything I said and were willing to give even the strange things a try. It’s hard NOT to adore a couple like that!

Choosing a photographer was one of the first things I did when planning our wedding…Okay, I’ll confess, I had been searching for the perfect wedding photographer even before we were engaged! I stumbled upon Corey Ann’s blog and instantly fell in love with the images. I loved that the couples seemed so natural and comfortable in her photos. She also seemed to capture just the perfect moments…Mom dabbing her tear with a smile on her face, the “Wow!” look on the grooms face when he first sees the bride, Dad holding back tears during the father-daughter dance. I couldn’t wait for us to be the couple in her photos!

Not long after we set the date, I contacted Corey Ann and luckily she was available. She was the first vendor that we booked, and the one I remained the most confident in during all the chaos of planning a wedding! The engagement session solidified my confidence in her and gave us photos that we will cherish forever.

On the big day, Corey Ann captured everything I asked for and so much more! Some people had told me that your wedding photos get tucked away into an album and you only look at them occasionally. Well, it’s almost been six months and I still look at them ALL THE TIME! The whole day was such a blur that I love to look at my pictures and remember all of the special moments.

Besides capturing all the amazing moments of the day, she was a huge help! She put my veil on me, helped keep everything organized, and got amazing wedding party photos in a very tight time frame while still getting us back to the reception with time to spare.

Choosing my favorite photos for “Brides Talk” is the most difficult part of writing this review, because there are hundreds that I LOVE! It’s so hard to narrow it down, but here are a few of my favorites!

“Picking the photographer for our wedding day was one of the most important choices we made. With photography being something that has always been a interest of mine, it was crucial to me to find someone who could embody the style that I wanted for our wedding day. After doing hours of research online we found Corey Ann’s website. We were immediately drawn to her. We took recommendations from friends and family, but we always went back to our first choice, Corey Ann.When we met her it just re-affirmed our choice. She was flexible to what we asked of her, and made sure that whatever it was that we wanted done artistically was done for us.Any question that we had for her was answered so quickly and with more than enough information that, with all the other planning we had going on, we never had to worry about our photographer.

On our big day she just continued to show what a great photographer she was.She captured every moment we wanted and so much more. She was in the right place at the right time, without stepping on any of the other vendors toes either. She also helped so much in getting the wedding party together for all the shots that we wanted and just working with us and making it all so much fun.The end result was fantastic.Corey Ann captured so many great memories that we now get to cherish forever, and we constantly get compliments on how great our photos turned out.Corey Ann was truly great to work with and we couldn’t recommend her more.”

I think that Christen and Ben will go down as one of the most memorable weddings ever due to the crazy high temperatures that day. Heat is the way of the land for weddings in the summer but the heat index was well over 100º that day – in fact there was even a heat advisory the day of their wedding! To top it off, their chapel was not air conditioned! However what I loved most was that no one complained ONCE about the heat – not a guest, not a member of the bridal party – not even the bride and groom. Everyone was so enchanted with how much they loved one another and how lovely it was to see them get married that the rest didn’t matter. I also love that we share a mutual love of squirrels!!!

“I have been a fan of wedding photography blogs since before I even met my husband. So, when it came time to look for a photographer for my own wedding, I had a wish list of people I wanted to meet. The first, and only, photographer that we met with was Corey. From that initial meeting, my husband and I knew that she was the right fit for our laid back personalities. Her amazing portfolio of work spoke for itself.

Our engagement session at the zoo helped Ben & I become less camera-shy so on our wedding day, we knew what to expect. I would highly recommend an engagement session to anyone on the fence.

Even when weather wasn’t on our side on the day of the wedding, Corey got family portraits done quickly in a non-airconditioned cathedral in 96 degree heat. She then managed to squeeze in outdoor photos before the rain started pouring down. At the reception, she captured details and moments Ben & I may not have seen first hand in the whirlwind of that day.

Corey, thank you for your talent, and we look forward to having an event that will allow us to work with you again!”

What’s not to love about Van & Jonathon who brought me to Cozumel with them and in the middle of winter to boot? Beyond that though, I know that I would have loved them even if I was shooting in a foot of snow. They were just really kind, caring and sweet people. My husband and I immediately felt like family and I teared up right along with the family during their vows. I loved every moment of their wedding day and adored how much of THEM they put into the day – from the ceremony to their first dance everything reflected their love for one another. Note: more pictures from their rehearsal will be posted soon!

“Due to the nature of our wedding, we didn’t really shop around for a photographer. It was very hard to find a local photographer that did destination weddings. After some deep searching (I located Corey Ann on the Wedding Photojournalist Association), I browsed Corey Ann’s website and contacted her by email for pricing. Immediately, we got a response! From that moment on, we were excited to work with Corey Ann. We met a photographer who checked her email as often as we did! Throughout our experience with her, Corey Ann was friendly, creative, and flexible – important characteristics in a destination wedding photographer.

Besides being a photographer for us, she was a little bit wedding coordinator too! Having gone to a lot of weddings, Corey Ann was able to help us set up the ceremony site at our rehearsal, from arranging the seats, setting up the “aisle,” to hiding the bubbling whirlpool tub behind the “alter”. Her input was invaluable to the success of our ceremony.

As we showed all of our friends and family our photos, we received tons of compliments on her photos, like how the images perfectly captured the emotion, and how the contrast of the background made us “pop.” She captured all the camaraderie among our family and friends and the love between us, while highlighting the fun we all had. Plus, we had so many pictures to choose from. As we scroll through the images, it’s like watching a video of our wedding day. We couldn’t be more pleased with our photos!

There are so many wonderful ways to describe our experience with Corey Ann, but I think her work says all we need to say about her ability. Here are some of our favorite pictures from our wedding in Cozumel, Mexico.”

I love love love it when I get past bridesmaids as clients. It’s always super awesome because I already know them and they know how it rolls on wedding days with me. It’s also fun to see past brides and grooms since I consider them all friends I have to admit Katie & Grey became one of my favorite clients ever when they had CUPCAKES ready for me when I arrived! Katie is a fantastic wedding invitation designer so her wedding was a photographers DREAM to shoot because not only did she have amazingly gorgeous details but she is in the industry so she tailored her wedding for optimal wedding photography opportunities. Love!

“We first met Corey in August ’09 because she was shooting our friend’s wedding – Carla and Craig. I was a bridesmaid so I got to spend a lot of time with her. But I first started admiring her work a year earlier, and kept her in the back of my mind, and after Carla and Craig had their engagement photos done, I got on the phone to see how she liked her! Of course, Carla loved her, and I put in our call and booked her after we were engaged. Since we live in Columbus, and Corey is in Canton, we didn’t actually meet Corey until Carla and Craigs wedding, after we had booked her! — Booking Corey was the first, easiest, and most stress-free vendor booking we did after we got engaged!

You should really enjoy being around your photographer because they are going to be with you, all day. They are there for all your sweet and semi-private moments. Its SO important to trust and enjoy them, and that is exactly how we felt about Corey. She is sweet, helpful, jumps in when she needs to take charge, and sits back when she doesn’t. Also, she was SO accommodating when we told her we wanted to have our fur-son come join us for some of our photos, and accommodated our very full schedule and large families. It means so much to us that she took the time to capture all of the little details that we had incorporated into the day because they all meant so much to us. She captured every single one of them!

I loved Corey’s ability to capture the emotional moments and her photos are so filled with life! The images we got are bright and colorful and really help convey the fun, and lively atmosphere we had. Working in the wedding industry, I have been looking at wedding images for years and Corey’s always stood out and spoke to me.

Thanks Corey – You were a wonderful part of our wedding day and it was a pleasure to have you with us. The only drawback is now I can’t wait to do more photo shoots with you!

p.s. Corey is the fastest photo-proofer in the west. She had our photos online in the blink of an eye!”

Oh how I love Sarah & Zack!!! Sarah planned their photo locations around what I wanted and that pretty much means I will always have a love affair with them. The day was so much fun and I also got fed well. All in all it was a perfect wedding day!!!!!!

“I really thought that planning a wedding from out of town would be somewhat of a nightmare. I thought it would be challenging to meet with vendors over the phone/internet with limited trips back to Ohio. To be fair there are decisions that maybe going back I would have changed. But hiring Corey was not one of those changes. From our first conversation we completely hit it off. I don’t think all brides realize how important it is not just to love your photographer’s work but to also like them. You will be spending almost as much time with your photographer on your wedding day as your new husband. Ladies, that is a fact so better darn well like the person on the other side of the lens.

Corey is a dream to work with, not only is she an amazing photographer but she’s so quick on her feet. One of my bridesmaids had dress issues while we were getting ready and Corey stepped right up to the plate and helped get it fixed. It’s her personality and charm that make you comfortable working with her and that’s why it’s so easy for her to capture your wedding day with elegance.

I cannot recommend Corey enough, but if my words aren’t enough here are some of my favorite images from our wedding day.”

My bridal party of six represented four different states and not one of them represented the state I currently reside in. For me to spend time with any one of these six on their own is a huge blessing for me but to have them all in the same room is unheard of, especially considering that most met each other for the first time at our wedding. Every time I see this image I think of just how lucky I have to have these women in my life.

Picking a florist was the most difficult decision I made during the wedding planning process. I ended up booking someone three weeks before our wedding without meeting the florist or seeing any of her work. I blindly trusted the recommendation of both Corey and our DOC Heidi. I couldn’t be happier with how the flowers turned out. This is why picking the right vendors for the most important things pays off in the end.

We took the pictures from our first look at a Vineyard and while we were exploring we found the cutest while building that had a similar architecture to our wedding venue. I love the flag hanging in the background, it’s patriotic and fitting as we got married over Memorial Day weekend. I also love how the different bridesmaid dresses look here. I let each girl pick out her own dress so they could stay true to their own style. The guy’s grey suits with orange tie complimented them perfectly, while bringing a little orange and green to our day, Go ‘Canes.

It took me months to find the perfect pair of orange shoes.I finally found them at Bloomingdales by Via Spigia. They provided the perfect pop of color, best seen in this picture. Zack and I had this blown up into a canvas print for our bedroom and it’s one of my favorite images of the day.

Zack’s younger sister loves weddings. We wanted to make our wedding day extra special for her so we looked for ways to incorporate her into the ceremony. One of the things she did was walk down the aisle with her dad. They are both beaming in this photo and I love that the little things we thought of made the day special for her too.

It goes without saying that planning an outdoor wedding in May in Ohio is a big risk. I don’t think we could have asked for a better day. This image is of our cocktail hour and when I see it I think back to just how perfect the weather was that day.

Zack’s best man blended the heartfelt with the funny. In this photographer we are laughing about me dragging Zack to every gay club in South Florida to hang out with me and my friends early in our relationship. Supporting equal rights has always been important to Zack and I and I’m glad he was able to incorporate that into his speech as not everyone in the room feels the same way we do. We hope that one day we’ll be able to support him at his wedding in the same way.

One of the things I remember most vividly about our wedding was everyone dancing. Our family and friends from Ohio to Miami to New York City were able to mingle on the dance floor, some of them were quite friendly and found there way all around the dance floor. The crowd even booed when the DJ tried to play a slow song or two… sorry grandma! #bigfun

I’m so glad that we did a first look. The images we took in the Vineyard are some of my favorite images from the day. We were able to attend our cocktail hour and mingle with our guests instead of taking off for two hours. I can see why some people wouldn’t want to do a first look but I am so happy with our decision.

I love this image of my brothers, our ushers, waiting for guests to arrive. This image captures there personality to tee so much so that I often wonder what they were discussing when this photo was taken.

Almost everything about our wedding was perfect and it’ would be silly for me not to say that Corey and Heidi were not a huge part of that. Even though they were both hired only for the day of the wedding they were so helpful leading up to the wedding. I used to always think it was true you get what you pay for… but with Corey it’s not you get so much more..

Lauren and Matt are just awesome people. Plain awesome. Their wedding resulted in my favorite image from 2010 and it was only able to happen because they were willing to go the distance for great images – which meant going outside in the rain. They did it with smiles on (as did the entire bridal party!) and were SUCH troopers. I cannot rave enough about how wonderful this whole crew was and how great the day went. I wish they got married every weekend!

“I found Corey recommended by other brides on the Knot’s message boards. Matt and I both loved her style and knew we wanted her as our wedding photographer. We loved that you could tell the people in her photos were genuinely happy and having fun, they weren’t just posing for the camera. Not only is she an amazing photographer, but she is a nice, funny, unique and all-around great person which made us even happier with our decision.

Our wedding day was cold and rainy, but fabulous. Corey never complained when we still did all our photos outside and she got some really amazing shots. She also helped with my bustle and saved the day by fixing Matt’s boutonniere. We had fun and felt so comfortable with her, Corey was another friend there for our day. I love looking at our wedding photos (which are all over the house) and remembering those moments and how much fun we were having. On our honeymoon we couldn’t shut up about our wedding day and were literally telling random strangers how awesome our photographer was!

Corey, I can’t thank you enough! The photos were amazing, you were amazing, an amazing day overall. We’ll always treasure our wedding photos and are so glad you were our wedding photographer.

It’s that time of year again!! The Annual Album Giveaway! If you are a past client of 2010, check your email and look for the details!

First up is Andrea & Josh whom I had such a lovely time with at Glenmoor. Seriously, they were a photographers dream couple to work with and I am so glad that I was chosen to share their day. I loved every ounce of love that went into this wedding and I LOVED how much love their was in this room. It’s hard not to adore a couple like them. It also helps that Andrea was a blogstalker and admitted freely to the fact! *blush*

“I’ll admit it: I was one of Those Girls who started to casually peruse wedding-related websites like Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, and Weddingbee before my then-boyfriend, Josh, showed up on my doorstep in December 2009 with a ring in his pocket. My browsing wasn’t completely irrational: Josh and I had been together for nearly four years by the time we had gotten engaged and had waited quite a while for both of our educational and career goals to align before tying the knot. I knew that once we got engaged, we’d want to get married fairly quickly, so I called these dreamy web surfs “preliminary research.” It was during one of these “research sessions” that I stumbled upon Corey Ann’s photography website, and I was immediately captivated by her images. I clicked through pages upon pages of stunning photographs that captured everything I had wanted our long-hoped-for wedding to represent: affection, honor, pride, laughter, honesty, and most of all, love. I saw it in the happy smiles of brides looking at their groom from the other end of the aisle. I saw it in the gaze a groom held on his bride as she listened to the minister read a Scriptural passage. I saw it in the father of the bride’s tear-filled eyes as he raised his glass to toast his beloved little girl and new son. Corey captured all of these representations of love so perfectly, and I knew as I neared the end of her portfolio that she was the photographer I wanted to one day capture our wedding. I even sent her a quick “I’m not engaged yet, but you’re awesome!” email – just to let her know that her work was appreciated.

So it was a no-brainer that when right after Josh proposed, I headed to my email and ask Corey what her availability was like for 2010. I wasn’t surprised to find that she was booked for a majority of dates we were eyeing, but I was determined to make something work. A flurry of emails between a handful of churches, reception halls, priests, Corey, and various vendors ensued. When it looked like Labor Day weekend was the only date that would work with a majority of our scheduling factors, I emailed Corey, hopeful that she’d miraculously have September 4th open. Alas, she did not. So we kept searching and searching, trying to put together that important combination of venues and vendors that would work within a nine-month deadline. Finally, we found a cluster that clicked: the gorgeous Glenmoor Country Club Chapel was available on September 5th, Josh’s dad was honored when we asked him to officiate, and was Corey available, too? YES. And so it was.

Hiring Corey as our photographer was undoubtedly one of the best decisions we made during our hectic wedding planning process. Whether it was via email, phone, or in person, she was the consummate professional: prompt, friendly, and helpful. Since she has witnessed so many weddings, she was full of useful advice but was never pushy or overbearing – I could tell that she was eager to celebrate the nuances that made our wedding unique, and that meant so much to me as I tried to put together a day that represented us in meaningful ways. On the day of our wedding, Corey was a dream: punctual, inconspicuous but ready to assist where needed, and completely in control of her craft. (And you guys. Her bustling skills? Life saving is all I’m saying.) She was patient and kind, even offering to take group pictures with my girlfriends’ digital cameras.

And the finished product? It was everything I had hoped it would be during my first glance at Corey’s portfolio just a few years ago. The images she captured were pure reflections of love: our love for each other, our love for our families, our love for our friends, and our love for those who had gone before us. It was all there in the beautiful collection of photographs documenting our wedding day, and I know that, when we look back on these pictures ten, twenty, thirty, (God willing) forty years from now, we’ll be instantly transported to the way we felt that day – because of the amazing gift that Corey’s talents have given us.

Without further ado, here are a few extra shots from our day that are some of my favorites:

My “something borrowed” was a string of pearls that my mom wore on her wedding day to my dad, who is no longer with us, on December 15, 1978. I wasn’t sure if I was going to wear the pearls or tie them around the stems of my bouquet, and it was literally a last-minute gut-instinct decision to wear them. It “got a little dusty in the room” (as Josh puts it) as this picture was taken.
