My last shoot of the year was one a bit closer to home so to speak.  Inspired by my session with my cousin Kirsten, my Aunt Jan (my Mom’s sister) wanted photos of her whole family while her oldest son, Brad, was in town with his family for the holidays.  Unfortunately my other cousin, his sister Jennifer, was having a few complications with her pregnancy so there were a few hoops to jump though and we weren’t sure until the minute I started taking the pictures that all would go as planned.  Luckily everything went well and the session was super easy.

After the session with the families, I stayed for dinner and it was fun to get to chat with my cousins and their children a bit.  It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve had a holiday dinner with my Mom’s family so it was a bit weird but good at the same time.  Brought back a lot of memories of Christmases we spent together growing up.  Some things never change, but luckily some things do – like me finally being old enough to not be stuck in the high chair!  LOL!  Being so much younger than all of my other cousins was always such a weird position to be in, it was nice to be on a more level playing field!

A few short hours after these photos were taken my cousin gave birth to her darling son Nathan.  Both Mom and Son are doing well and while Nathan is still in the hospital, he’s doing great and hopefully will be home soon.  It’s so strange to look at the images and realize that the images were “out of date” so to speak less than a day later as a new addition had been added.  I can’t wait to meet the newest member of the family and hopefully take some photos of him, trust me, he’s already a charmer!
