Jennifer and Robert got married a little over a month after this session but it didn’t make this session any less meaningful or fun. I often have clients fret that with the weather and timing their engagement sessions are going to be too close to their wedding date to be useful. Please don’t ever let that stop you from getting your engagement pictures taken! Not only have I had people have them taken the week of their wedding but I’ve also had clients use the session time after their wedding for a portrait session. There’s no reason to hold off on an engagement session just because you won’t be using it for a Save the Date card!
The day of their engagement session wasn’t anything like the sessions from the previous weekend. It was cold, windy and quite brisk. Ironically their wedding at the end of December had better weather and warmer temps! It’s OHIO! Ha! Anyway, they braved the miserable weather and it was a great session. I loved that the colors were still holding on at the Wade Oval Lagoon in front of the Cleveland Museum of Art!! The nice thing about the miserable weather was that meant there wasn’t a ton of people running around so I wasn’t fighting or waiting for my shot to be clear of people which was nice. There were a couple bridal parties there but they were easy to work around (and boy I felt bad for the girls in short gowns!).
It was a great session and I was so happy to get to see these two again the following month!
I think my favorite part about this entire session was how they laughed together!
Dear leaves – thank you for sticking around!
I couldn’t decide which was my favorite of these next two images so you get both.
I have to gush about Jennifer’s dress for a moment – it was FABULOUS! I loved how unique it was! I also loved how Robert’s outfit coordinated with hers without being matchy-matchy.
Their second outfits were also homeruns, HOW CUTE ARE THESE SWEATERS?!!?
They are pretty adorable as well.
Even though it was starting to get a bit dark, I loved how these images at the end of the session turned out with the lights coming on in the distance. These aren’t twinkle lights – these are actually streetlights and emergency call box lights but I love the look.
I also love the look of their coats for a third look of the session without a clothing change! Love!
