It’s been such a busy month and my poor blog has been quite neglected. In the wedding world June is generally “the” month that things get crazy but for me September has been rating as almost equal since my first year of weddings. On top of a super busy schedule, I decided to end it with popping on a plane and heading off to Maine. It was amazing and someday I’ll share the pictures here. The unplugged wedding article took off again adding a bit more craziness to an already crazy life as well. I have a week off this week so I’m hoping to get a bit more caught up on the blog and I’m starting it off with Byron and Erin.
I love shooting hometown weddings. It’s always charming in a way how “small” North Canton is. I knew OF Erin since we both went to Hoover High School (she was a couple years behind me) but I didn’t know her well. However, one of my past clients and friends Melissa knows her and when she saw her pictures from her portrait session she decided to book me as her photographer. We didn’t meet until after she booked since she and Byron no longer live nearby but we met up over coffee not long after and we all immediately fell into this friendly banter and it seemed like we’ve known each other forever. I guess it’s another part of the North Canton thing. After our meeting I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding! Ironically another “small town” coincidence happened at the wedding – Erin’s Aunt was good friends with my Mom and recognized me when she saw me. Fun!
The week of the wedding the weather was wild in the typical Ohio September way. Earlier in the week, it was overcast and a brisk 60 degrees but by Saturday it was almost 80 and sunny but leading up to the day of the wedding, rain kept being called for and no one was sure what would happen. Since the reception was being held outside in a tent in Erin’s parent’s front yard (have I mentioned how much I love weddings at home? I have and will repeat it again here, LOVE them), weather was definitely a concern but luckily the rain stayed away! Whew! They had fans on site so it never was too humid and the day was absolutely perfect.
Byron and Erin may have one of the cutest engagement stories – and I’ve heard a lot. Long story short: Erin was visiting her friend Courtney (aka Maid of Honor) in NYC and unknown to her, Byron flew in to propose. Courtney was in on it and had planned to go to dinner which just happened to take her by Carrie’s apartment from Sex and the City. Erin LOVES SATC – so do I which is why I am probably in love with this story. As they were walking by Carrie’s brownstone, a window in the car in front of the building’s window went down and red balloons popped out. Erin, worried they were late for their reservation, kept on walking and Courtney had to drag her back so she saw that it was Byron in the car with the balloons recreating a moment from her favorite show to propose to her. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I could go on and on about this wedding and how wonderful it was but instead I shall turn it over to the pictures!

I really loved this moment of Erin’s Dad handing her over to Byron.
Also, I should note here that I was OBSESSED with Erin’s dress! So chic!
A lovely moment of laughter during the ceremony.
The Catholics like to slip in the kiss in the middle of the ceremony!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a balloon exit so it was fun to see a new style!
After the ceremony we all went back to Erin’s parents house where the reception was held on the front lawn.
I started out with pics with the bridal party.
I loved the similar-but-different gowns that the ladies wore from J. Crew!
Gotta love the standby favorite V formation for the guys.
Such a classic but lovely image of these two!
Favorite!
This arch to the backyard gardens is so elegant.
Such a neat little nook, isn’t it?
I love the patio furniture!
How amazing do these flowers look as the centerpieces?
The first dance was so elegant and lovely.
YAY to a dip at the end with good placement so I got a great image of it!
A sweet father/daughter dance always leaves me a bit misty eyed.
The Mother/Son dance was equally as sweet.
The Maid of Honor retold the engagement story for the guests and it had some hilarious reactions from everyone. By the end though she had us in tears with her lovely toast to her best friend.
The Best Man talked of how wonderful of a person Byron is.
CAKE!
I don’t know why but I really love this image of the rings on the bouquet.
I loved that the guys were more excited about Call Me Maybe than the girls!
These two had SO MUCH FUN on the dance floor with each other. It was a fun night!
Thank you to you both for hiring me! I had SUCH a great day with you both!
