On yet another crazy hot day in Ohio this summer I met up with Brittany and Ben in Wellington for their ceremony. Rain was threatening all day but thankfully we were able to dodge the raindrops and their wedding went off perfectly! Even their church – which doesn’t have air conditioning – managed to stay pretty cool considering the heat. Everyone was so full of smiles and love and it was such a great day.
I have to write a bit about their flower girl and just how much she charmed me. Oh my gosh! She was the cutest thing ever but beyond that she was just completely and utterly adorable. She was so eager to be the best flower girl and was doing everything she could do all day to be helpful.
Finally… Brittany and Ben. My goodness! They were so easy to work with and just the kind of people you immediately feel comfortable with. While many clients rightfully worry over the weather on the day of a wedding, I never heard any concerns from them about their day. They were just happy and excited to get married and the rest was just details.
Thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding day! Congratulations to you both!
Ceremony: First United Methodist Church / Reception: Springvale Ballroom / Cake: Cakes of Elegance / DJ: Mike Ramsdell / Florist: Off Broadway Floral
The day started with meeting Brittany and her ladies in the basement of the church. Normally basements are dark and have horrible lighting but I was delightfully surprised to find the basement at First United Methodist Church was light and beautiful!
Her flower girl was so eager to help and did a great job with helping Brittany put her shoes on.
Ceremony time!
It was a beautiful ceremony!
They did it!!!
After a few pictures at the church and the surrounding areas we headed over to Springvale to take portraits on the golf course.
Unfortunately it was one of their busiest days of the year so we had to get pretty creative with the locations we used but we made it work!
I loved the look of the bridemaid’s royal blue gowns with the colorful floral bouquets!
The butterflies in the bouquets were the perfect touch!
The guys looked quite dapper and I loved the royal blue ties!
This is my favorite picture of them from the day, such happy smiles!
They were so lovely to work with!
It was such a hot and humid day but you would never know it by looking at their photos, they were just so happy to be married!
When we were walking to the next spot on the golf course during a break between people playing I captured this photo of the bridal party and I quite liked it!
After a few portraits with the bridal party they went inside to get freshened up and we went back to the tree area from above where we were safe from the golfers and the light was beautiful.
When we initially arrived at the ballroom the bridal party needed some time to use the bathroom and get sorted before heading out onto the golf course so I was able to take some pictures of the setup before any guests arrived.
I really loved the blue and the butterfly decor for their wedding reception at Springvale Ballroom. Such a unique choice that was spectacular!
How fun are these butterfly escort cards??
The cake from Cakes of Elegance was spectacular. The white had a slight shimmer to it and the base of each round had rhinestones. Then Off Broadway Floral added their beautiful flowers and it became one of my favorite cakes to date!
Cake cutting pics are always fun since no one quite knows what they are doing!
Brittany’s father started off the wedding reception with a welcome toast.
I love when Dad’s toast because it often brings the best smiles of the day!
He was followed by Brittany’s Maid of Honor who gave a lovely toast to the newlyweds.
The last toast was by Ben’s Best Man and was perfectly balanced between humor and sentiment.
After dinner Brittany and Ben started off the wedding reception with their first dance.
I don’t know why but I absolutely adore this image!
For the parent dances Brittany and Ben did something a little different which I absolutely loved. They each started the first minute or so with their parents before the DJ invited all father/daughters or mother/sons out onto the dance floor to join them. SUCH a great idea!
After the dancing was underway there was a great mix of people sitting and chatting with one another and people tearing up the dance floor. The lovely thing about Springvale weddings is that the ballroom is big enough to allow for both without being separated into rooms.
Of course I have to end with their wedding rings, isn’t Brittany’s engagement ring stunning? I loved the unique shape of the halo!
