\"Chicago<\/p>\n

Last May I got to head over to Chicago for a fun engagement session with Katie and Bart.\u00a0 They had gone back and forth on adding the engagement session or not and luckily our schedules both allowed me to come out to them in Chicago and spend a day photographing them in the city where they met and fell in love.<\/p>\n

It had been a LONG time since I’ve been to Chicago so it was fun to revisit the city.\u00a0 I had all of these grand plans on what to do and see, especially since I had just finished up Devil in the White City<\/a> and wanted to check out where the World’s Fair was.\u00a0 Unfortunately for me (but fortunately for Katie and Bart), the weather was rainy and terrible for the entire trip but the few hours I spent with them during their engagement session.\u00a0 So all of my grand plans were scrapped and I ended up reading in my room at the Loews<\/a> and enjoying the view from my dry room – and it was actually still a wonderful trip.\u00a0 Give me a good view, a comfy hotel room and a good book and I’m happy!<\/p>\n

We did a ton of walking through the city during Katie and Bart’s engagement session so in the end I did still get to do quite a bit of sight seeing so not all was lost.\u00a0 While the fog obscured the skyline for most of the session we did get one pop of sun at JUST the right time.\u00a0 Yay!\u00a0 They were such a fun couple to get to visit the city with and I loved getting to not only hear their story about how they met and fell in love but visit the spots where it happened as well.\u00a0 I love when my clients are able to return to important places to take photos!<\/p>\n

I photographed these two a few months later in July and it was one of my favorite weddings of the year – hopefully I’ll get that blogged in the next month or so!<\/p>\n

We started out at North Avenue Beach which on a NON foggy day has an amazing skyline view.\u00a0 While you can’t see it, Chicago is there.<\/p>\n

Despite the fog, I still loved the spot.\u00a0 It was moody and neat and since the weather wasn’t great so that meant there were very few people out – bonus!<\/p>\n

The lake was also crazy as you can see from the wet pavement from where the waves were splashing over.\u00a0 We were going to do more on the lake but since it was angry we headed downtown instead.<\/p>\n

We started out where they had their first date – at Stan’s Donuts<\/a>.\u00a0 They bought me one and my goodness, it was divine!\u00a0 Highly recommended!<\/p>\n

We had to wait a few minutes but luckily “their” table opened up!<\/p>\n

\"Downtown<\/p>\n

We headed back out onto Michigan Avenue where there were hundreds of tulips planted.<\/p>\n

We kept walking and stopped inside the Tribune Tower where Brett proposed at the top!<\/p>\n

I love all the steps around the Chicago River!<\/p>\n

The sun and blue skies popped out at the perfect time!<\/p>\n

I love all of the bridges over the river!<\/p>\n

Before they quickly changed we took a few photos at The Chicago Theater.<\/p>\n

We finished up their session at Millennium Park.<\/p>\n

While it wasn’t on their list of places to go I had to insist they do a dip in front of “The Bean” inside of the Millennium Park.\u00a0 Sometimes you just have to do the touristy things to appease your sometimes cheesy photographer.<\/p>\n
