{"id":2064,"date":"2011-09-20T14:04:56","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T18:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/?p=2064"},"modified":"2011-09-20T14:04:56","modified_gmt":"2011-09-20T18:04:56","slug":"travel-outer-banks-of-north-carolina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/travel\/travel-outer-banks-of-north-carolina","title":{"rendered":"Travel | Outer Banks of North Carolina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2022 \u00a0In mid August we went back down to the Outer Banks for vacation with a bunch of friends, family and godparents in Duck, NC.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0Talk about lucky &#8211; we picked the week right before Irene hit the coast. \u00a0While it wasn&#8217;t very publicized Irene did a decent amount of damage to the Outer Banks, especially with flooding. \u00a0Much of Hatteras Island is still rebuilding and you still cannot access the island by bridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0The week of our trip coincided with our 4th anniversary of our wedding &#8211; which took place in Corolla and Duck! \u00a0The night of our anniversary we all went to dinner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rt12obx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">where our rehearsal dinner was<\/a> and then had champagne with the gang on the beach where we were married! \u00a0Awwww right? \u00a0Such a fun night!<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0We took a day and went down to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocracokevillage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ocracoke Island <\/a>&#8211; one of my favorite places in the world (<a title=\"Ocracoke Island\" href=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/ocracoke-island\/\" target=\"_blank\">we were there in 2009<\/a>). \u00a0Many of those with us had never been down there and we had rented a huge SUV so we crammed everyone in and went down with my brother in law Dale behind us (he ended up coming down mid week and stayed just south of us in Kill Devil Hills). \u00a0We had a great time and had so many laughs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0I&#8217;ve been going to the Outer Banks almost every year since I was 6 so it&#8217;s rare to find things I haven&#8217;t done before but I finally did get to do one thing &#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.outerbankscruises.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> a dolphin cruise<\/a>! \u00a0It was a great time!<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u00a0My favorite day of the week was our last day on the beach. \u00a0Spent the morning\/afternoon by the pool reading. \u00a0Took a nap in our hammock under the deck and spent the late afternoon on the beach with a book watching dolphins jump just off shore. \u00a0Stressful day huh???<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Outer Banks North Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coreyann.com\/obx-1.jpg\" alt=\"rainbow in Duck NC\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Our first day in Duck was the only day we had bad weather, a few storms went through but we were left with this wonderful rainbow!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Outer Banks North Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coreyann.com\/obx-2.jpg\" alt=\"sunset in duck NC\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We also had a pretty spectacular sunset, this is from our rooftop deck.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Outer Banks North Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coreyann.com\/obx-3.jpg\" alt=\"kitty hawk fishing pier\" width=\"598\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier is now owned by the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk. \u00a0We visited my brother in law who was staying there for the week, really nice place!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Outer Banks North Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coreyann.com\/obx-4.jpg\" alt=\"Kitty Hawk Beach\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Outer Banks North Carolina\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coreyann.com\/obx-5.jpg\" alt=\"bridge to nowhere in hatteras \" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is the &#8220;Bridge to Nowhere&#8221;
