<\/p>\nWhile photography is one love my Father shared with me, the love of science was another love that he had and tried to teach me about whenever he could. \u00a0From a young age I knew that you could use jewelweed (aka Touch-Me-Nots) as a soap if you break their leaves and mix it with water – mainly to use to wash off sap if you get into\u00a0Poison\u00a0Ivy. \u00a0When in the Outer Banks one year, we sat on the beach watching red lightning and he taught me about why it happened while other people ran for the hills (including my Mom and brother). \u00a0Another love of his was astronomy and many nights of my youth was spent outside with my Dad watching the sky during meteor showers. \u00a0When Halley’s Comet came by in the 80’s, we got up in the wee hours of the morning to watch it… too bad it was cloudy! \u00a0So it should be of no surprise to you when I heard about the Northern Lights putting on a show here in Ohio I grabbed my camera and headed outside!<\/p>\n
Sadly by the time I saw the news on Twitter the main show here was over but there was still some red sky to be seen, just not the pretty parts others saw before and in other areas. \u00a0Still I thought I’d share some of those pictures with you guys in case you missed it too. \u00a0I did see the Northern Lights back in 2004 when I was driving but I didn’t get a chance to photograph it so I’m happy to have at least some pictures this time!<\/p>\n
Maybe tomorrow we’ll be treated to another show!<\/p>\n

This image is one from my deck that I took as soon as I heard about the Northern Lights. \u00a0As you can tell, I have a few trees in my yard. \u00a0I heard the activity was closer to the horizon so we set off to try and see if we cold find a better vantage point.<\/p>\n

We ended up finding a good spot in Hartville but I fear that by this point the show was mostly over, the sky was still quite red and it was definitely moving a bit but no longer the vivid red it was about 30 minutes earlier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
