\u00a0For <a href=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/travel\/mid-coast-maine-october\" target=\"_blank\">part one (Midcoast Maine) go here<\/a> and for <a href=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/travel\/acadia-national-park-autmn\" target=\"_blank\">part two (Acadia National Park) go here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After Jill and I got our naps in and warmed up a bit from the cold sunrise at Cadillac Mountain, we headed off towards our next stop on our trip. \u00a0We left pretty early and meandered down the coast, stopping at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lighthousefriends.com\/light.asp?ID=524\" target=\"_blank\">Dyce Head Lighthouse<\/a> (or Dice Head) not too far from Acadia. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been there before but I wanted Jill to see it since it&#8217;s a cute little lighthouse and I had some unfinished business to attend to there &#8211; seeing just what was further down the path that I was afraid to take all the way to the end on my last stop since I was alone. \u00a0The path I found lead to some stairs. \u00a0During low tide I hear that it&#8217;s a nice beach but we were there at high tide and there wasn&#8217;t much to see but water. \u00a0At least I finally made it to the end of the path!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7286\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/dyce-head-lighthouse.jpg\" alt=\"Dyce Head Lighthouse in Maine\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/dyce-head-lighthouse.jpg 900w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/dyce-head-lighthouse-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We didn&#8217;t have a far drive on this day to our next stop and our home for the evening &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samosetresort.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Samoset Resort<\/a>. \u00a0The last time I stayed in Rockland I stayed at the charming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.berrymanorinn.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Berry Manor Inn<\/a> but it&#8217;s a bit more romantic and not quite girls trip-y. \u00a0The additional perk to the Samoset was that it faced what the trip was about &#8211; a lighthouse. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocklandharborlights.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse<\/a> may be one of my favorites but not for the conventional reasons. \u00a0It&#8217;s the home of the place where <a href=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/travel\/autumn-maine-lighthouses-sunset\" target=\"_blank\">I took one of my favorite pictures ever of a sunset<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been wanting to return to hopefully see another beautiful sunset and actually MAKE it to the lighthouse this time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We did end up making it out to the lighthouse but the light wasn&#8217;t really on my side (literally) so the pictures were ho-hum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7287\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-brakewater-lighthouse.jpg\" alt=\"Rockland Brakewater Light in Maine\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-brakewater-lighthouse.jpg 900w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-brakewater-lighthouse-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7288\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-lighthouse-399x600.jpg\" alt=\"Rockland Lighthouse in Maine\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-lighthouse-399x600.jpg 399w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/rockland-lighthouse.jpg 598w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When the sunset finally happened it wasn&#8217;t quite the same show that I had before. \u00a0Once I got over that disappointment I realized that this sunset was still a pretty one and ended up being the best one from the trip. \u00a0So it all worked out. \u00a0I still want to come back someday and hope for another show! \u00a0We got a bottle of prosecco to go and enjoyed it on our balcony watching the lighthouse and hoping to get a glimpse of the meteor shower (no such luck due to clouds). \u00a0If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend this resort!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The next morning we headed out pretty early, stopping off at the nearby Owl&#8217;s Head Lighthouse before continuing on towards Ogunquit. \u00a0I had also been to this charmer before but it was nice to see it again. \u00a0If you&#8217;re ever in the area make sure to stop by, the drive out to it is so picturesque AND these steps aren&#8217;t as daunting as they seem. \u00a0Promise!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7291\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/owls-head-lighthouse-399x600.jpg\" alt=\"owls-head-lighthouse\" width=\"399\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/owls-head-lighthouse-399x600.jpg 399w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/owls-head-lighthouse.jpg 598w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We had a bit of a drive down to Ogunquit but luckily we had a couple stops planned to break up the trip just a bit. \u00a0Our first stop after Owl&#8217;s Head was to one of my favorite lighthouses in Maine, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portlandheadlight.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Portland Head\u00a0Light<\/a>. \u00a0 It was rainy and foggy by the time we arrived here and the foghorn was going (you could also hear the ones of the other lighthouses nearby). \u00a0I really love this lighthouse mostly because of the setup. \u00a0It&#8217;s on a park property and there&#8217;s so many different views and angles of this lovely lighthouse. \u00a0Although I tend to keep returning to the same ones, one day I hope to have the time to explore a bit more!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7293\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-light.jpg\" alt=\"Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth Maine\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-light.jpg 900w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-light-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7292\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-lighthouse.jpg\" alt=\"Portland Head Light in Fog\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-lighthouse.jpg 900w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/portland-head-lighthouse-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On our final stop before arriving in Ogunquit, we hit up one place I&#8217;ve been dying to see ever since I started venturing to Maine,<a href=\"http:\/\/oldorchardbeachmaine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Old Orchard Beach<\/a>. \u00a0It just always sounded so cute and I&#8217;ve always wanted to see a boardwalk\/pier like you see all of the time in movies. \u00a0Of course everything was closed up for the season (to the point there wasn&#8217;t anything open for lunch anywhere it seemed in the city) but it was still fun to finally lay eyes on. \u00a0My 8 year old self would have LOVED to visit this place in the summer and the kid at heart in me hopes that I return someday when it&#8217;s open!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7294\" src=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/old-orchard-beach-pier.jpg\" alt=\"Old Orchard Beach Pier in Maine\" width=\"900\" height=\"598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/old-orchard-beach-pier.jpg 900w, https:\/\/coreyann.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/old-orchard-beach-pier-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After striking out at Old Orchard Beach we ended up just getting fast food at a rest stop along I95 and I may have attempted to free a lobster but struck out when I couldn&#8217;t find any way to BUY the lobster that was alone in a tank in a shop that was closed up. \u00a0I&#8217;m sorry Mr. Lobster! \u00a0I tried!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next up is the city that stole my heart away from all other places I&#8217;ve fallen in love with before in Maine&#8230; Ogunquit!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s another post in the series from my trip to Maine last October!
