On what may end up being the hottest day of the year (during the hottest summer I can remember in a long time) Kristyn and Chris were married overlooking Lake Erie at Kristyn’s parents house and their Cleveland Yacht Club wedding reception was just down the road. I was thankful for both events being near the lake which meant we had a breeze that few others had on the same day.
These two were so happy all day long despite the intense heat (especially once we left the breezes from Lake Erie for photos at the new Cleveland sign in Tremont and the parks!). Often when it gets that hot, people get cranky – it’s almost impossible not to! However Kristyn and Chris along with their bridal party were super easy going and understanding that the heat was what it was and we did our best to keep everyone as cool as possible.
Thank you both so much for trusting me with your wedding images! Congratulations!
Cake: Wild Flour Bakery / Ceremony: Gazebo at Bride’s Parents House / DJ: A Bride’s DJ / Florist: Vase to Vase / Reception: Cleveland Yachting Club
When I arrived at the Bride’s parents house I went upstairs expecting the normal chaos that is taking place when ladies are getting ready for a wedding. Instead, I was greeted by one of the most calm atmospheres I’ve ever seen surrounding a bunch of ladies prepping for a wedding! Kristyn was so calm and relaxed as was her ladies!
Everyone stayed inside as long as possible as the temps soared over 100 with the heat index. As soon as it was go time everyone sat down and Kristyn shortly followed with her father.
The setting for their ceremony couldn’t have been any more beautiful!
There were a lot of giggles during the ceremony!
It was a perfect ceremony!
The kiss!
We went down onto the beach after the ceremony for a few quick portraits with Lake Erie behind them (and some paddleboarders as well). It looked so oceanlike on that day!
After the beach we headed over to the brand new Cleveland sign in Tremont overlooking the skyline of Cleveland. I love where the ring bearer went – in the middle of the C!
One more!
After Tremont we headed over to Rocky River Reservation and to a barn that Kristyn and Chris really liked.
I kind of loved the green doors and since by this point everyone was a bit sweaty I was glad it was in the shade!
I really loved the way that the blues popped against the doors!
There was a pretty little path into the woods near the barn and Kristyn and Chris were willing to go down it a pace with me for some more images. Again, on a hot day like this I try to keep everyone shaded when possible!
We headed to the Cleveland Yacht Club for the wedding reception and I ran around getting pictures of the decor before anything got too messed up.
I loved the theme of the wedding – every table was a different spice!
Each place setting had rosemary tucked into the napkin along with some rosemary salt which were favors.
The Cleveland themed cake by Wild Flour was absolutely amazing!
I also really loved their guestbook which was a wooden picture with two birds and lots of leaves. Guests signed the leaves!
As I was finishing up the reception decor pictures, I spied the ring bearer hiding out at his seat at the head table.
It wasn’t long before the wedding reception was underway at the Cleveland Yacht Club! It started with toasts before dinner.
After dinner the DJ started picking up the music and the ring bearer couldn’t help himself and was having a blast!
The sun began to set and the view from the deck of the ballroom is pretty hard to beat!
Once the clouds started picking up the colors of the sunset I caught up with Kristyn and Chris and we took a few sunset pictures which was one thing on their must-do list.
It was then time for the special dances, starting off with their first dance which they smiled and giggled the whole way through.
Afterwards they had their parent dances which were equally full of glee.
Before I left for the night I captured a fun picture of their wedding rings with the rosemary from my place setting and someone’s shiny purse behind. It’s a bit wacky but I love it!
