Katie and Dieter may be two of the most relaxed couples I’ve ever had. The day of their wedding, they were just elated to be getting married to one another and were not remotely stressing the details at all. Not even when it was discovered on the morning of the wedding that Dieter had forgotten to get himself a bowtie! They took everything in stride and laughed all day long, it was fantastic! What was also fantastic was the weather! Sunny and beautiful without a bit of humidity! I know a lot of people have been bummed this summer has been on the cool side but I for one am elated because this means my couples aren’t sweltering outside during pictures!
One of the fun details from the wedding was that instead of a big cake they opted to do cake centerpieces instead. I’ve had this at a few other weddings like Maureen and Mark’s and it’s such a great idea! Everyone had a lot of fun after cutting the cake dashing around and negotiating pieces from others cakes. Eventually they were all moved to a table in the hallway and everyone was out there trying little chunks of all the different cakes. The hit of the night was anything with chocolate and peanut butter, of course!
Thank you both for hiring me and for being so wonderful to work with!

I adored Katie’s dress SO much. It was beautiful, light and romantic. Love!
The flower girls were SUCH a hoot and completely fun to photograph. One of the two decided she was OK with the flower crown and everyone swooped in to get it pinned down before she could decide against it.
The Church of the Resurrection was one of the most unique churches I’ve been to. It’s set up more like a stadium and the wedding takes place in various areas in the center section. It was really neat to be able to get around all of the angles and not be in anyone’s way! The light was also lovely and the church was easy to work with, yay!
After the ceremony we headed off to Shaker Heights Country Club to take some portraits before the guests arrived for the cocktail hour.
These guys were a lot of fun, my second shooter Nicole captured these while I was with the girls.
I loved these dresses, they were perfect for a summer wedding.
The bouquets were BEAUTIFUL but they were also absolutely HUGE. The florist said that the hydrangeas came in much larger than she was anticipating and she wasn’t kidding. Since they were so big and full we decided to do a cheeky pic with the bouquets as heads.
The bridal party went inside and I escaped with Katie and Dieter and a really lovely caddy who guided us around the course for the best spots for pictures. These two are just so darn adorable together.
One of my favorites from the day, I’m a sucker for landscapes with bride and grooms!
Another shot showing off the course where they got married. The weather (and sky!) couldn’t have been more perfect on their wedding day!
I loved how the ballroom was set up inside Shaker Heights Country Club! The uplighting really made for a dramatic entrance and the cakes were the PERFECT centerpieces!
Purple uplighting from Rock the House really made this room pop.
I HAD to do another with the cakes because I loved them so much!
The entrance!
They went straight into their first dance, which I love.
After dinner Katie & Dieter cut their cake and everyone else cut theirs at the same time with each table having a designated cutter.
The parent dances were super sweet and lovely.
Their favors were chocolate buckeyes so I had to play with the rings on one. It took a bit of patience to get them to balance just right but my patience was rewarded with this image.
