Over the winter prior to their wedding I met up with Nicole and Michael in Youngstown for their engagement session which I absolutely adored. For their wedding, we went almost to the opposite end of the state for their wedding in Sandusky at the beautiful Lyman Harbor. It’s situated right on the lake and overlooks Cedar Point so it only made sense that their wedding theme was based on Cedar Point (a place they both adore). Their colors were a bright cobalt blue and yellow and it was so perfect! I can’t wait for you to scroll down and see just how beautiful the space looked – their reception was perfection!
What wasn’t so perfect was the rain, which was on and off all day and caused the ceremony to be moved from the lawn overlooking Cedar Point to the interior room with a similar view. In the end though, I think it was the better choice because it meant that everyone could be seated and they didn’t have to worry about the rain or winds – just saying I do. Luckily after the ceremony we had a break in the weather and we were able to dash outside with just enough time to get all the family portraits in and some bridal party and couple portraits before the rain moved in again. We dashed in and out a few more times in the evening and I’m so grateful that Nicole and Michael were so easygoing and willing to work with me. It paid off with what may be one of my most favorite nighttime photos ever.
These two were such a joy to work with – we had such a great time together and I’m sad I have no more sessions to look forward to with them both. All day they would go their separate ways but always have an eye on one another and smile with the eyes connected. It’s fun to watch people’s different love languages during a wedding and theirs is all in the eyes and smiles. Thank you so much for trusting me with your day!

It was super windy! So windy that Nicole’s wedding dress kept blowing to the side but to be honest, I loved it!
Nicole was SO zen while they were all getting ready.
One of the things I noticed that was really popular this year was customized bridesmaid wine glasses. I LOVE THEM!
Nicole had the bridesmaid’s initial on one size and their title and the date on the other in their wedding colors.
Finally it was time to get the bride dressed! There were a lot of layers to make sure were laying perfectly.
Before the rains came in we found a shady spot on the lawn of the hotel and got a few photos in.
I know I gush about this EVERY time I see it but I always love when the bridesmaids each have a different gown in the same color!
Then it was time for the ceremony!!! How cute are these kiddos?
Michael was so happy to see Nicole!
She was beautifully escorted down the aisle by her father and stepfather, which was lovely!
Their ceremony was perfection.
I don’t often include images of the family portraits but the lighting was SO perfect for theirs I had to show off just how beautiful overcast light can be.
They had a large bridal party but everyone was easy to work with!
We finally got a few quick portraits in with the bride and groom before another round of rain.
I have to gush about Nicole’s gown for a moment. It was so unique and BEAUTIFUL!
By far one of my favorites from the day!
How beautiful is this bouquet?!
The guys were a bit more willing to risk the sprinkles coming down from the sky since they don’t have hair/makeup worries so the guys went outside on the pier with me for a few pics.
We started out with the infamous ring shot per Michael’s request.
One of the perks to being on the same site for the reception and ceremony is that they were able to pop into Lyman Harbor for a drink before pics.
I really love this shot of these tough guys!
They were a hoot!
How awesome is this reception space?? Lyman Harbor weddings may be my new favorite!
Each table had a ride name with a photo of the ride!
Their seating chart was so cool.
Near the bar there was some high top tables with these beautiful centerpieces. It was nice because it allowed people to gather there to chat easily with people who weren’t seated with each other!
As a moscow mule lover, it made me happy to see their signature drink was the moscow mule AND they had custom mugs in lieu of the typical flutes!
Instead of cake they had cake pops and it was amazing on all levels!
The reception kicked off with toasts!
After dinner dancing began and the lights added extra fun to the beautiful dance!
The rain wouldn’t let up so we got a few more pics with the ladies in the ballroom and they requested their own ring photo.
Even though it was still sprinkling they were game to go out for this photo with the Cedar Point skyline and it was perfection!
The chandeliers changed colors to the beat of the music and it really made the room look so festive!
Finally a photo of their amazing rings, the oval diamond is so unique but what a stunner!
