In May I met up with Shelly and Drew for their wedding at Mapleside Farms. Unfortunately Ohio weather was not on our side so their ceremony had to be moved indoors. The rain just would NOT quit! However these two didn’t let the rain faze them a bit. The great thing is that Mapleside Farms is beautiful both inside and out so we were able to still get lovely photos despite not being able to go out on the grounds.
They did a first look which made the most sense with their set up of having the ceremony and reception at the same place. It made for a seamless transition from the ceremony to the reception for everyone. It also meant they got to enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests which is when I feel that the wedding couple are able to get the best quality conversations with the loved ones that have come from afar.
Shelly and Drew were so wonderful to work with! Their love was a joy to document and their family and friends were so darn fun and kind! It really was a pleasure working with everyone. Thank you for trusting me to capture your day!
Ceremony & Reception: Mapleside Farms / Bridal Gown: Essence of Australia via The Dress Bridal Boutique / Catering: A Taste of Excellence / Cupcakes: Sweet Little Things Cle / DJ: Soundproof Entertainment / Florist: Nikki’s 21 Blooms
I started the day out with the guys as they got ready before the ladies arrived.
Shelly had the most exquisite wedding gown! I loved the illusion netting at the top which was a trend this year.
Once the ladies arrived and dressed they toasted the couple before Shelly got into her gown.
Shelly looked amazing in her Essence of Australia gown!
Since it was raining their outdoor ceremony had to be moved inside and we opted to do their first look where their ceremony would later take place. Drew anxiously awaited as Shelly exited the bridal suite and met him on the stairs.
While it may not been the location they initially planned, this indoor backup location was beautiful and perfect!
After a few minutes of admiring each other and lots of hugs, I took a few portraits of them before we wrangled the bridal party and families for their turns in front of the camera.
Navy and Pink was another trend that started with Shelly and Drew’s wedding last year and I must say, it’s one of my favorite color choices. Looks great on everyone and in photos!
The ladies were all so lovely to work with and quite willing to do anything to make Shelly’s day as smooth as possible!
The guys were willing to help lift, shift and do anything to make sure a smile was on Drew and Shelly’s face and that everything was set up.
Once we were through with the bridal party we used the spare time we had before they needed to be hidden away before guests arrived by taking more portraits.
Mapleside Farms is a beautiful wedding venue and it’s the perfect blend of rustic charm and elegance.
The rain slowed down enough so that we could go outside to the covered porch for some photos without getting wet. The light was beautiful despite the rain!
How cute are they???
I love when my couples sneak kisses whenever given the chance – they look much more natural in photos!
Shelly and Drew came prepared with a Thank You banner in burlap that matched their rustic decor for their wedding.
Seriously, aren’t they so sweet??
Finally it was time for the ceremony to begin!
Shelly and her father entered from the rear of the barn at Mapleside Farms and slowly made their way up the long aisle.
Shelly’s Dad had the biggest grin on his face all day long!
What a gorgeous backup location indeed!!
Their ceremony was full of laughs and quite a few sentimental tears as well.
It’s official!
This may be the most amazing candy buffet I’ve ever seen. It was beautifully themed to match their rustic decor and had lovely hints of pink.
How amazing are these gumball necklaces?!?! They were a huge hit!
On the other side of the ballroom they had a cupcake table set up which was equally as beautiful.
Their cake cutting was quite amusing!
The toasts were beautiful, sentimental, and full of love!
The dancing kicked off with the first dance and it was absolute perfection.
This photo may be my favorite from the day!
Next up was the parent dances, I love how happy Shelly’s Dad looks!
Drew and his Mom made sure there wasn’t a dry eye left in the building.
As the evening progressed Soundproof Entertainment made sure that the dance floor was packed all night long and everyone had grins from ear to ear!
Before leaving I played with their rings and I LOVED the candy buffet setup so of course I had to play with the rings there.
