Married: Sandor and Svetlana

Sandor and Svetlana got married at the beginning of November in the most gorgeous church I have ever seen in a Serbian Orthodox ceremony.  It was such a joy to be with them on their special day.  They were both so calm and collected and just happy to be married.  It’s so amazing to shoot couples that are that calm on the day of the wedding!!!  There is this awesome peace around them and although it’s hard to capture on film, it’s a wonderful feeling to see them together.  The ceremony is so unique and interesting – they have witnesses instead of a traditional bridal party and they get to wear crowns.  As a child that was once obsessed with princesses (as most little girls are) I really dug the crown bit!  The reception was wonderful and so relaxed!  Everyone just had a really great time and the DJ was great with keeping the party going.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!

In true Corey fashion I managed to break my nose during the reception but for those of you that worry about what happens if the photographer gets injured rest assured that I took a licking and kept on ticking!  I believe if I was a Girl Scout I would have got a badge of honor at the end of the night!

Thanks again to Heidzillas for the referral and to Sandor and Svetlana for allowing me to share in your amazing day!!!

There is no where in the church for a bride to hide from the groom so Svetlana waited in the limo until Sandor got out of the car to make her entrance.

Unlike traditional ceremonies, the groom faces the altar the entire processional so he does not see his bride until she comes up beside him at the altar.  Unique but I loved it!

I loved the chandelier so I wanted to make sure I incorporated it into a shot or two.

After they are crowned they do three circles around the idol – yet another tradition that I loved.

In addition to rice, they also throw money at the bride and groom for luck!

Svetlana had an ice scupture made for Sandor in the form of the Stanley Cup.  I about had a heart attack when I found out that tungsten melts ice when placing the rings on the ice for a detail shot.  Sandor loved the idea and allowed me to try it again and luckily the rings didn’t sink much further in!

The Past, Present and Future of my photography career.  The Present (Sandor and Svetlana on the end), The Future (Joe and Codi in the center will be getting married in May and I’ll be doing their photography) and The Past (Devin and Heidi on the end were married in August and I did their photography).

As you can see, even though he was just 3 weeks the day of the shoot, he’s already growing so fast! His cousin G also came over for a few shots with the two of them as a gift to Grandma so I got the double pleasure of shooting TWO adorable boys!! […]ReplyCancel
