• I apologize for the break in blogging, I got knocked down by this awful virus that’s been going around.  For the past two weeks I’ve been asleep or falling asleep or blowing my nose or coughing… my heart goes out to anyone that is dealing with this!  It’s a doozy!

• This past October I had the immense pleasure of photographing Jackson’s First Birthday party!  You may remember him from last year when I met him or his adorable parents from their wedding and engagement session (both of which are still some of my favorites!).

• I loooooveeed the monster theme that Kristin had for the party, it was all in bold and fun colors with fun monsters all around.  Seriously too cute for words.

• It was also such an honor and so much fun to be there for this party!  It was fun to see everyone again and chat a bit with people.  They also made me eat and I am now addicted to one of the treats they made (you will meet them below).  Amazing!

• Jackson is so darned cute, words cannot describe so you’ll just have to keep on scrolling and try and handle the cuteness.  SO precious!

Happy 1st Birthday Jackson!!!!!

I adored the decor so so much.  This monster party was too cute for words with a bit of a nod towards Halloween which was right around the corner with the pumpkin centerpieces.

Trust me on this, make oreo balls for your next potluck.  Even better is that this recipe is so easily adapted to a multitude of flavors (I did peppermint for Christmas, a-maz-ing).

SUCH an adorable family portrait, right!?  I adore Jackson’s pilot-esque hoodie!

Getting sung to, he wasn’t quite sure what to think of it.

It took him a while to warm up to the cake, so he tested out the ribbons first.

Instead of the traditional smash, Jackson did more of a dip and lick method of getting into his cake.

Then, when everyone was convinced he wasn’t going to go for it, he grabbed the cake and JUUUUUSSTT as he was about to take a bite, someone gasped and he dropped it worried that he had done something wrong.

Thankfully I got this moment just before he dropped it back down.  HILARIOUS!
