I LOVE Greek weddings. Well, I really love all weddings but Greek weddings may be my favorite. They are just so HAPPY and fun. Everyone is grinning all day from ear to ear, the families are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, you can’t help but love the music and the dance floor is nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left I was grinning from ear to ear and I’m still smiling as I write this blog post.
Thanos and Popi are meant for one another. All you have to do is look at these pictures and you can feel their love jumping off the page. In person, their love is like a big fuzzy blanket that wraps around everyone near them. At their reception, that just happened to be around 525 people but everyone was so thrilled for these two. They are two of the kindest people I’ve ever worked for and their wedding was definitely one of my favorites of the year. All day they were so easy going and nothing ruffled their feathers or made them lose sight of the most important thing from the day – they were getting married. Not even daylight savings time… which you’ll hear about in a bit.
Get a cup of your favorite beverage and prepare for some time with this amazing couple because I’m about to post more pictures from a wedding than I ever have before. The wedding was that awesome and even paring it down to these select images was tough!
Thanos and Popi: it was an absolute JOY to work with the both of you and I thank you for trusting me with your wedding images. <3

This Lazaro gown was so unbelievably amazing! I can’t wait to be able to see the story unfold on TV on how she chose it!
The stationery was simply elegant! I loved the gold!
Prior to getting dressed, Popi went downstairs and danced with her family while the band played. It was SO fun and everyone was grinning from ear to ear.
When the dancing ended Popi went upstairs to get dressed.
I love how everyone has a part in helping to dress the Bride and Groom in Greek weddings. Family and the Bridal Party all have a certain clothing item they are responsible for.
While I was with the girls, my second shooter for the day, Edric, was with the guys as they got ready.
I love this image Edric captured of a final quiet moment before the craziness began.
The guys helping Thanos get ready.
Thanos got a bit teary when he first laid eyes on Popi.
Popi and her Dad walking down the aisle at Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church.
Edric was able to be up on altar and captured some great moments up there.
Unfortunately one of those moments was the crown getting stuck in Popi’s hair 🙁 They handled it gracefully though!
One of my favorite parts of the Greek Ceremony is when they take three turns around the altar.
The kiss!
This is one of my favorite recessional images ever!!!
The bubbles floated perfectly around them as the sun set.
We scooted over to Fellows Riverside Garden and pulled in JUST as they were shutting the gate. It was dark and they were closing but the staff allowed us in for 10 minutes so we made the best use of our time while we had it.
Popi had an old image from Gone With the Wind in her mind as a picture she wanted with Thanos. We did a bit of a spin on the image and I ADORE the way it turned out. To me it’s very old Hollywood.
Yep, you’re getting the color version too because I loved this image. It’s fun doing something a bit outside of the normal portraits I do!
How amazing is this bouquet of roses??? SO amazing right? I love that the broach is one of her Grandmother’s.
It’s hard to believe it’s actually pitch blank but it was SO dark. We made it work though!
How amazing is this dress on Popi? It’s SO gorgeous!
While I was with Thanos and Popi in the gardens, Edric scooted over to Antone’s to get images of the tables and decor.
I LOOOOOVED their decor so much! I loved the gold and the cream decor and I especially loved this tall centerpiece with the dangling roses and crystals.
How beautiful was their cake? So elegant!
They walked in to Jay Z’s “Public Service Announcement” and Popi changed up the words and sung “Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Mrs Caras!”
It was awesome!
They immediately went into their first dance and it was one of the most romantic ones I’ve seen.
They are just so lovely together!
Their first dance was followed up by a really emotional dance with Popi and her father.
Everyone was getting a bit misty eyed.
Thanos and his Mother shared a sweet dance as well.
They cut the cake… perfectly of course.
Awwww 🙂
Then the toasts started and oh my goodness. They were a roller coaster of laughs and tears but every moment was sweet and so heartfelt.
Also? HOW STYLISH IS THIS MAID OF HONOR? She’s gorgeous and I love the style!
How cute are their glasses?
Then the guys started their toasts… which were a bit more lighthearted than the ladies.
There were a LOT of laughs.
Everyone was ROARING with laughter.
Brothers have the best toasts.
Family always makes tears happen during toasts.
I loved that he was able to spin the sweet moments right into hilarity.
Final toast!
Even more laughs.
Also, these two look ridiculously good laughing!
Then the Greek dancing begins and it is AMAZING. They started with the traditional money dance.
There were SO MANY PEOPLE on the dance floor and the money was flying!
See what I mean? Instead of just for one dance the money continued to float in the air all night long.
I was able to take the rings for some quick images and this is by far my favorite from the night playing with the centerpieces.
I loved how they swapped back and forth between the DJ and the band.
During the band’s first break they tossed the bouquet (check out these awesome bridesmaid dresses, I’m kind of obsessed with them).
Edric captured this moment moments after I captured the one above.
Then the garter came off…
…and a guy apparently spilled his drink when the guys went to catch it. See him? LOL. Note to guys: don’t take your drink with you to catch the garter! Ha!
For the rest of the “set” with the DJ everyone danced their heart outs while the fog machine and laser lights rolled.
The ring bearers had a change and I LOVE this kid’s style. Especially the Stomp-eez. I’m all about the slippers in this pic.
The next set of Greek music started with the amazing Zoidakis band and Thanos lead off the zembekiko dance, aka drunk dance.
Each man gets up and does their own dance and it was utterly amazing to watch these guys dance.
I loved this image towards the end of the dance! I think my favorite part is the kiddos on the right hand side who are in awe of the dancing.
Sadly it was time for me to go but we squeezed in a final “end of the night” image before I left.
I still can’t decide if I prefer Popi’s hair up or down, it’s so beautiful!
Thank you again SO much!!!!
