For me, I always get excited when I have a wedding that isn’t on Saturday. I don’t know why by the vibe is always unique and fun and it’s nice to change things up a bit. Also, I got married on a Wednesday so I always love getting other “oddball” wedding days of the week. Allison and Tom got married on a TUESDAY and it was fantastic. All day I kept thinking it was a Saturday because it never felt like a weekday wedding (when often everyone shows up in droves once work is done).
It was a small but lovely wedding full of smiles all day long. The love I felt for them on their wedding day was practically tangible. Everyone all day was SO elated to be a guest and to see these two say I do. Everyone was also willing to help with any little thing that needed done and that was lovely to see as well.
Thank you both so much for trusting me to capture your day! It was such a great day!
Ceremony & Reception: Skyland Pines / DJ: Flash and Sound Events / Florist: Flowers by Dick and Son
Since their ceremony & reception were at the same place it made the most sense to do a first look, portraits AND they were able to get all of their family formals in before the ceremony. Made the rest of the day seamless!
I loved that they were low key and didn’t have a formal bridal party! It was nice to spend time with Allison and Tom out on the golf course alone for portraits.
She is SO gorgeous!
Tom looked pretty dapper as well.
I really LOVED Allison’s simple but beautiful gown. No huge train, not too many layers. Perfect for a summer wedding!
The last time I was at Skyland Pines the ceremony had to be moved inside due to thunderstorms (and a nearby tornado) so I’m so happy I was finally able to visit this pretty spot for an outdoor ceremony. It’s such a gorgeous setup right?
How fun is Tom’s smile when he saw Allison walking down the aisle!? People always ask me if the first look ruins the moment of seeing the bride coming down the aisle for the groom (and vice versa). This kind of reaction is why I always say absolutely not. Often those that have a first look are MORE emotional seeing their beloved during the ceremony because they aren’t caught up in the “I have to remember to say this is what I was thinking when we’re finally able to talk” and just take in the moment!
Allison was escorted by her sweet Mama – who looked amazing!
SUCH a picture perfect day, right?
I LOVE a good dip and kiss for the first kiss and this was a beautiful one!
They kept things simple for the reception decor but it was perfect! The bonus was that all the guests got to take home a rose (or two) from the centerpiece. Such a great idea!
Before dinner they kicked things off with their first dance. As you can see, it was one that left everyone with tears in their eyes!
After dinner (where I had the BEST steak I’ve ever had at a wedding reception!) they cut the cake and I loved that Allison thought ahead and put a napkin on her dress JUST in case.
Jake from Flash and Sound Events did a phenomenal job getting the dancing and fun going. Sometimes with weekday weddings it can be tough since people are not in the party mode but Jake got everyone out on the dance floor and having a wonderful time!
Before I left I got the rings for a few photos!
