Corey Talks: I Dream of Shooting…

Some day my dream location will come… some day I’ll shoot what I love… OK so that’s really cheesy but for some reason I have Someday My Prince Will Come stuck in my head and there you have it.  Random side note is that I sung this solo in 6th Grade for a choir concert.

I love weddings and I absolutely LOVE being a part of such an important day in your lives.  No matter what the location, they are all beautiful to me.  However, there are some things that I dream of shooting someday.  I am posting them for a couple reasons.  One is that you never know who may be lurking out there and could be looking for a photographer at my DREAM spot and two is just for my amusement and yours at seeing how really random I am.

1.  Prince Edward Island –  I went here in 2006 to find myself after my father died.  It sounds corny but I did find myself and come to peace with everything and rekindled my love of photography.  PEI is a place I’d been dreaming of visiting since I was a little girl and fell in love with Anne of Green Gables and it was a dream come true to see it in real life.  It is beyond amazing to see – SO beautiful (will be posting images from this trip in the future).  This to me is the ULTIMATE place that I would love to shoot a wedding since that’s where my idea for the career started.

2.  Any Plantation – I love plantations.  The homes are gorgeous and the grounds are so beautiful.  I do not agree with all that went ON at plantations but you cannot deny their beauty.  I’d really jump for joy for a chance to shoot at Oak Alley or Houmas House but I’m not picky!

3.  Beach Wedding – Although I got to second shoot with the FABULOUS Brooke Mayo at a beachside wedding in the Outer Banks this past summer (one of the highlights of the year for me!), I still would love to shoot a wedding similar to mine where the ceremony is right on the beach.  I am such a beach lover so this is my idea of total awesome.  Of course ideally that beach would be in either the Outer Banks or Hawaii but I’m open to all suggestions for beach front weddings!

4.  Cruise Wedding – One of my fandoms this blog has yet to be subjected to is my Titanic obsession.  If you are geeky enough maybe you’ve found out this hidden secret but if not I’ll let you in on it – coreyann.com used to house one of the longest running and most popular Titanic fansites in the world.  Designed totally by me (graphics and webpage).  So it is only natural that I would love to shoot a wedding on a boat isn’t it???  I promise, it won’t sink 😉

5.  Someone Famous – If I’m playing it real, I’m playing it real and doesn’t EVERYONE want to land a celebrity wedding?  Or have a celeb in the wedding party?  Photographers, be honest you know you do!

6.  New Orleans – This does go somewhat in hand with the plantations but it doesn’t.  I LOVE New Orleans.  I have friends that live there and I typically go down at least once a year (although lately it’s been twice a year).  There is nothing like the food, the people or the sights there.  If it wasn’t for that whole hurricane and humidity thing, I would live there in a heartbeat.  Next best thing would be shooting a wedding there.

7.  Any location in Weird Ohio or any ‘haunted’ or ‘bizarre’ location – I love love love quirkiness and stuff like this can only bring even more awesome to your wedding or engagement session!  SERIOUS bonus points to any couple that is willing to go to the Contraception Museum in Cleveland with me for an engagement session.   When I saw that this actually existed I about fell over in hysterics.  How funny is that!?

8.  At a Lighthouse – Another love of mine is Lighthouses so this is another location on my list.  I have dreams of pictures of brides and grooms on the spiraling staircases!!!  I almost got married at one and if it wasn’t for time restraints I would have been married at one!

9.  A Wedding With a Pet – I love animals, they are just so special!  I have always had a pet in my life and to me there is something missing when the few times in my life where I wasn’t living with one (I didn’t have it in my heart to take my dog with me from my Dad when I moved out).  I would LOVE to shoot a wedding where the couple has their pet as part of the ceremony.

10.  New York City –  I have to end this with NYC.  The first time I went there I couldn’t believe how amazing the city was.  Every time I go back, I am still just floored with how gorgeous and inspiring the city is.  Plus… it’d give me a chance to shop after I’m done working 😉

Honorable Mentions: Mackinac Island, Geneva Lodge, Put-in-Bay, Winery and Parents Backyard (this is soooooo sweet!).
I am really lucky to have been able to shoot some of my dreams in 2008.  Locations include Stan Hywet, Cedar Point, Duck NC, Maui, Jamaica and Neon Graveyard aka The Boneyard in Vegas.
