Day 17: Memories. It’s another phone-it-in day here as I had a session this morning outdoors. One bad thing about winter for me is my cold allergy. Yep, I’m allergic to the cold (seriously). Once I get hives I’m usually pretty toast for the day as being in the cold not only gives me hives but affects my whole body. I end up with flu-like symptoms etc. Fun times. Yes, Ohio is bad for it but I also get hives in air conditioning and whenever I “feel” cold so it’s not a certain temp that will set me off.
Anyway! Since I am not quite 100% I just grabbed a bag of photos that I have on my shelf. I’ve been attempting to sort all of the images I have into years and then plan to go through and scan and put them all into albums. This bag happened to be the 1984 bag so I threw them in a pile and snapped. It’s an interesting year for me as it was my last year of so-called innocence. The following year my grandfather would die and I would also be sexually abused. So it’s interesting that this was the bag I picked up. The picture of me at the top in the center is my 5th birthday picture, the one next to that (clockwise) is me opening a Care Bear figurine at my birthday (Strawberry Shortcake themed of course!), the next image is of me competing in the Little Miss Greentown pagent (I would lose and my Mom was a judge and didn’t vote for me, I didn’t get at the time she couldn’t so I was upset), the next two are me at my Grandmother Doyle’s house, the next is of me bundled up like an eskimo to go outside (I’ve had my cold allergy since birth so this was a way of life for me way before Andy made it popular in A Christmas Story) and in the center is me and my two cousins on Christmas. It’s a fun snapshot of almost my whole 5th year 🙂
