Boy, I had no idea what kind of a treat I was in for with Rebecca and Tim’s lovely Turkeyfoot Island Club wedding. Oh my gosh. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I had a perma grin on. While I love all of the weddings I photograph, some just speak to your soul and their wedding did. Mostly I think because their wedding reminded me of my own, just with an Ohio base.
If you recall, Rebecca and Tim did their engagement session shortly before the wedding. We spent a lot of time just chatting before we left – mostly about Maine which was their destination for their honeymoon and I gave them some tips on where to stay (they took up my recommendation for Berry Manor Inn!) and eat (Moody’s Diner). See what I mean about how I loved their wedding?
Their wedding day was just a beautiful day. Not only because of the celebration of love between two wonderful people but the weather was spectacular as well. You never know what you’re going to wind up with in Ohio in mid October but the sun was abundant and the sunshine was warm. It really was a picture perfect autumn day – which was great since they had an outdoor ceremony! Their reception was also just perfect. The Turkeyfoot Island Club has a bunch of different rooms and everyone spread out and either danced, chatted or did a bit of both. Some people went outside to enjoy the fresh air and views over the lake. It was such a chill day and you could tell everyone really loved the vibe of the day.
Be prepared to be a little jealous of their wedding. When you picture a perfect fall wedding it’s hard to top this. Outdoor ceremony on the lake, lots of sunshine and tons of love. It was a great day!
Thank you both so much for trusting me with your wedding!
Band: The Stone River Band / Ceremony & Reception: Turkeyfoot Island Club / Favors: Akron Honey & Burton Maplewood Farm / Wine: The Winery at Spring Hill
It was SUCH a gorgeous day and I absolutely adored their venue – Turkeyfoot Island Club was the perfect place for a fall wedding!
Rebecca was getting ready in one room upstairs – they have a few rooms people can stay in overnight! It was such a cozy place and I adored her gown!
This is such a beautiful antique button hook!
I am still obsessed with the delicate lace backing of Rebecca’s dress. I loved how the back buttoned up.
The finishing touches!
Since they were having a late afternoon ceremony they opted for a first look so they could get everything done and not have to worry about taking too many photos while guests waited.
Here is Tim waiting for Rebecca to come out.
Like I said, it was a beautiful day!
There were a lot of emotions, even I teared up a bit.
They shared some laughs and smiles before Tim read his card from Rebecca.
Hugs are my favorite!
We then headed down to the road that Turkeyfoot Island Club is off of and where they took their save the date photos the winter before.
They have a photo similar to this in the snow so it was only right we recreated this in the fall.
They are so darn adorable!
Their laughs are my favorite though!
Favorite!
I love how this image shows off just how amazing Rebecca’s dress was!
We headed back to the club and they put the finishing touches on their outdoor ceremony area on the shores of Turkeyfoot Lake.
They had a handkerchief station and many of their guests took one – it was a good thing because it was one of the most emotional ceremonies I’ve seen!
They had a simple bridal party and this flower girl stole the show!
Rebecca and her father managed to (barely) hold the tears at bay.
Of course as with any wedding on the lake, you’ll have the boaters that pass by and I loved that Tim gave them a thumbs up when they honked.
I told you they came in handy for the tears!
There were a lot of tears! Good tears!
Also lots and lots of laughs.
It was a bit of a longer ceremony than most are but there was SO much packed into it.
Lots and lots of back story and information about how they met, what they love about one another and what they want for their future.
It was beautiful and perfect!
Yay!
We took a few photos after the ceremony before heading in for dinner.
I just have to say they did SUCH an amazing job with the details for their wedding. I am still in awe!
Every guest had a seating card with their names on it. Even me!
Their favors were maple syrup from Burton Maplewood Farm and Akron Honey. Such a perfect choice for an October wedding!
They had a beautifully arranged guest sign in table with a wood tree for the guests to sign. The pumpkin was carved with their seal that they created for their wedding!
The tables were full of autumn colors and photos of their families.
Each place setting had this Ohio cutout with information about their wedding and the reception.
All around the Turkeyfoot Island Club’s rooms they added a bit of personal touches here and there like this frame of a photo from their engagement session with a pumpkin and candle with their initials.
Their cake was so cute and perfect!
They also had an outdoor seating area with mason jar candles on them for lighting.
They planned ahead just in case it was cold and had a few blankets for people to share as well.
Before dinner they thanked everyone for coming which I always think is a lovely touch.
During their prayer before dinner I caught Rebecca sneaking a look and grinning at Tim. Such a sweet moment!
After dinner they kicked off the evening with their parents dancing to their favorite band!
Then they had a perfect first dance which was full of smiles and giggles.
From then on it was a pretty awesomely chill reception. There are a ton of rooms at the club so people who wanted to dance danced, some people stayed at their tables and enjoyed the music and company, others went into other rooms for more intimate conversations on more comfortable chairs and more still went outside to enjoy the lovely autumn night.
Rebecca and Tim have spent many years enjoy the Stone River Band so you knew when their favorite songs came on because everyone would hit the dance floor!
They did steal a moment during the dance to sneak off and cut the cake. They didn’t make a thing of it but still had the small ceremony, which was sweet.
Before I left we also played with sparklers!! It was a full moon and there wasn’t a lot of dark areas but we made it work and had a lot of fun!
Before I left I played with the rings a lot but my favorite was on the pumpkin with their seal. The best thing is this is a fake pumpkin so they can keep it forever and light it up every October and remember their wedding day for the rest of their lives 🙂
